The new town hall: one
form - two elements. …a
new town hall, where will be located all the institutional and political offices,
all the town offices, the new hall for the town council…a square with the role
of civic center and aggregation point for the community of Santa Marinella…" On
the north side, the main street, via Aurelia, delimit the area of the project
and, in correspondence of the new town hall,
it is widened so to become a square: a "focal point", a new episode in the urban
tissue. The new town hall is located
perpendicularly to the main street, frees the space in contact with it and its
transparence lets the public life penetrate inside it: in this way, a dialogue,
an interaction, a unity are created between the built space and urban open space. Regarding
its context, the programmatic issues and the future functions,
the project consists of a building
composed from two volumes: two blocks connected from light bridges, floating in
an empty space, three floors high, which cuts and give light to the interior of
the building. The first volume,
on the north side, is higher and dominates
the square; the second volume, on the south side, is connected with the
park and is oriented towards the see. The
facades, thought following the orientation, are of two types: one completely open,
glazed, equipped of a sun shading system made of metallic perforated blades which
allow a perfect control of the daylight and an optimal bioclimatic result; the
other one more closed, formed from a white reinforced concrete wall, cut from
strip windows designed with an alternate rhythm. Architects: Arch.
